Lady of the night

November 19, 2017

{Verse One}

I climbed the highest mountain, and then I turned myself around

When I placed my two feet on the ground, I heard a loud, mysterious sound

As I followed the path that leads me down, I came across a girl in a nightgown

She said, “Come with me, I’ve gotta show you what I found.” So, I followed her eastbound

The more we walked, the more we talked. Until my head began to pound

She said, “We’re almost there, please be prepared.” I looked at her and frowned

Not even ten minutes later, she told me a man had paid her. Paid her, and took her here… Out of town

I looked out into the water, where she said the man had brought her. Brought her here to drown

{Chorus One}

She was a ghost

She was the lady of the night

She was close

(She ran from the man of fright)

She escaped, almost

She put up a fight and so I raise my glass, I toast

For she was a ghost

She was the lady of the night

She was close

(She ran from the man of fright)

She escaped, almost

She put up a fight and so I raise my glass, I toast

{Verse Two}

I ran down the highest mountain. And yes, I ran faster than a hound

When I placed my two feet on the ground… I was wired, I was wound

As I fled to my truck which was painted brown, I came across the girl in a nightgown

She said, “Show the police what I have found.” So, I said I’ll show them the profound

The more she stalked, the more we talked. Until the sun rose from the hill’s crown

She said, “Before you go, please take control.” I looked at her and bowed

Not even ten minutes later, I drove away like an investigator. An investigator heading into town

I told the police a man had caught her, and had brought her to the water. Brought her to the water to drown

{Chorus Two}

She was a ghost

She was the lady of the night

She was close

(She ran from the man of fright)

She escaped, almost

She put up a fight and so I raise my glass, I toast

For she was a ghost

She was the lady of the night

She was close

(She ran from the man of fright)

She escaped, almost

She put up a fight and so I raise my glass, I toast
